The Peregrine Falcon was once known as the Duck Hawk. Fully capable of taking ducks and other water birds, the Peregrine is an extremely fast flier (one individual was clocked in a dive at 275 miles per hour).
In the Eastern United States and some regions of Canada, the Peregrine was wiped out by pesticides and human disturbance. A successful reintroduction program has seen them reintroduced, and even found in large cities. |
