The 1000 Islands is famous for at least two things. One of those things is the salad dressing of the same name and the other is the traditional 1000 Island skiff. These craft were a pleasure to row and extremely sea worthy. They are highly prized by their owners to this day. In the background of the painting is St. Brendan’s Church at Rockport, Ontario. Rockport is the birthplace of the fine skiffs built by W.E. Andress Boatworks.
